| The Hurricane Evacuation Assessment Tool(HEAT)
has been created to assist residents of Hillsborough County by providing
evacuation and sheltering information in the event of a hurricane or
other natural disaster. This interactive program was designed to assist
the public in easily determining if they are in one of the five evacuation
zones. Depending upon the strength and track of an approaching hurricane,
the evacuation plan calls for one of five color coded evacuation levels.
These are called evacuation levels A (purple),
B (blue), C (green),
D (yellow), and E (orange).
Each evacuation level requires the evacuation of successively more
residents inland from the coast. If you live in one of the color coded
areas and your color corresponds to the level of evacuation ordered,
you MUST evacuate. ALL MOBILE HOME RESIDENTS IN THE COUNTY MUST
EVACUATE AT ALL EVACUATION LEVELS. HEAT also provides information
on shelters, hospitals, fire stations and sandbag locations. With the
additional use of the Evacuation Routing program, residents are able
to quickly print maps, with driving instructions, to one of these facilities.
The display screen is divided into five parts: in the middle are Location
Map, Map Window; on the left the Toolbar; on the bottom middle the
attribute panel; and on the right is the layer/legend panel. |
